Huanchaco

From Lima we  caught the bus to Trujillo but not just normal bus but the best Peruvian VIP bus Cruz del Sur it is considered the safest, the most reliable, comfortable and the most expensive though we got a very cheap deal. This 10 hour trip up north was a pleasure in every aspect. Anyway again we arrived quite late at night in a big city and the moment we got off the bus we caught a taxi to much smaller town called Huanchaco just 12km north west of Trujillo. It was very laid back and a popular surfing spot during the high season. We were hoping to go for a swim but because of a cold current it never happened plus this place has this bizarre weather condition or mist called garua that blocks out the sun for the majority of the day. It also sits low above the water surface most of the day so its kind a feels depressing to have the ocean with huge rolling waves but no sun. We stayed here two nights and while here we went to see some pretty impressive ruins called Chan Chan build in AD 1300. This place once was the largest pre-Colombian city in the Americas and the largest adobe city in the world.Chan Chan ruins. And at the end introducing The Peruvian Hairless Dogs!!! We thought they had some sort of disease but as we found out it is a breed of dog with its origins in Peruvian pre-Inca cultures. Apparently they are really, really friendly dogs though I love dogs but not this creatures yuk!....
