Huacachina
We arrived in Ica quite late and took a Taxi straight away to nearby (5km west of Ica) Huacachina which is a kind of bizarre place as it is not a city, not a town, not even a village but sort of a wee oasis surrounded by high sand dunes. In the middle of it there is a small lagoon with palm trees and exotic flowers around. Locals say that now Huacachina is a gringo playground but in the past it used to be a luxurious resort for Peruvian elite. For us it was a place to break the journey on the way to Lima and all we did in 3 days there was just relax by the pool and explore the desert. Climbing the dunes with beers and enjoy the sunset from the top.
