Sailing Day 1

Just after 8 am or so our boat was ready to sail off, we had water to drink and to shower, we stock up on fresh fruits, petrol… etc… all looked well organised and perfect.
We were already on the boat me, Bryan, two Canadian brothers that were sailing with us and we only waited for the crew: our cook Juan and Lucho the Capitan when 3 rather angry looking locals came up on the motor boat near us asking where we are off to. We pretended that we didn't understand Spanish so they went closer to the beach where Lucho was about to join us with Juan. We knew it didn’t look too promising and we weren't going anywhere… the locals simply didn't let us go until the solution to the problem regarding strike will be found. They said that at 10 am they will have a meeting and so maybe around 1-2 pm we will be allowed to go or the next day.... Disappointed we left the boat and went back to hammocks. Few hours later Lucho got a phone call that they found some agreement and we could go to Cartagena. We jumped of the hammocks and the voyage begun, so exiting…………

First day of sailing was amazing I really fall in love with it and was thrilled to the fact I wasn’t sea sick….which can only mean a bright sailing future ahead:)....though Bryan will have to work on it a little bit more. Being surrounded only by this vast blue water and the sky above is really unforgettable experience. Whole day there was really little wind and so we needed the help of an engine as sailing 3-4 knots is barely anything. Only at night the wind has picked up a bit more and the engine was off. However I couldn’t really sleep as it was extremely hot underneath and the cabin was too claustrophobic for me.
Beautiful view from our claustrophobic "bedroom" window.
