Minca

Thorough this journey we went many times off the beaten track to the places where the tourism hasn't really arrived on the big scale. We are always more than happy to go to those places where there aren't many travelers but lots of locals and more relaxing atmosphere. If I would have to pick my 3 top places in Colombia or even in the whole trip Minca would be pretty much up there. This wee village is a true hidden gem up in the Colombian mountains of Sierra Nevada overlooking lush forest, Santa Marta below and the Caribbean Sea in the distance. It is also a coffee region and like with Salento I fell in love with this magical place straight after our arrival. The village is tiny and the surrounding area is a home to many different species of exotic birds.
Minca was also special because it was our last place where we stopped for longer, before leaving Colombia. We booked 4 nights in (yet again) one of the coolest places we stayed so far. We spent our time in hammock reading, writing, walking to the forest, bird watching and of course drinking lots of organic locally grown coffee (me not Bryan).
